Biography of Catrina Choate

Biography of 1994
Catrina is from Michigan, near Detroit. She will be eighteen years old on September 15. Trained early in ballet by her mother, Catrina came to S.A.B. as a summer scholarship student in 1991, and she became a full-time scholarship student in 1992. She currently is learning parts in this year´s workshop ballets, Sernade, Western Symphony, and Flower Festival Pas de Deux. Catrina is in her last year at Professional Children´s School.
Most current biography
Catrina Choate, a native of Michigan, began her movement exploration with her mother as a teacher developing a strong ballet foundation through the Cecchetti Method. She continued her training at the School of American Ballet on full scholarship under the direction of Stanley Williams, Suki Schorer and Kay Mazzo.
Ms. Choate's extensive performing experience in the corps de ballet with Miami City Ballet and Carolina Ballet includes Balanchine ballets such as Agon, Concerto Barocco, Jewels, Serenade and Paul Taylor's Company B and Esplanade. While obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from Florida International University, Catrina trained with and performed modern choreography by Leslie Neal and Gary Lund.
For years, Ms. Choate has enjoyed teaching ballet and modern dance to people of all ages and currently, as a certified Awareness Through Movement® instructor, is teaching Feldenkrais® lessons throughout South Florida.
